Botox – What Does It Cost?

by John Kirzno

The search for the fountain of youth has been around for a long time. But nowadays it seems that more than ever, people are trying to look younger. With this age defying demand there comes a surge of products, all of which promise to help stop the aging process and keep you looking younger than ever. Among these products is a wonder drug called Botox. Once only used by the Hollywood elite, Botox is rapidly becoming the treatment of choice to freeze a face in time.

Botox is a protein that is injected underneath the skin to minimize and smooth out the wrinkles and fine lines on the face. When injected into targeted muscles, Botox actually paralyzes or relaxes them keeping them from the contracting that produces the wrinkles. The results are a clean and smoother appearance.

Botox has become rather popular over the last few years for several reasons. First of all, it is a lot cheaper and less invasive than a facelift. It is a non-surgical and quick procedure that can be done right in the doctor's office. Secondly, it gives long lasting results that you can begin to see within 24-72 hours.

As I mentioned earlier, Botox is less expensive than a facelift. The average Botox treatment price ranges from $350 to $500 for each injected area. Of course, the price of Botox can vary according to the geographical region you are from. For instance, people in Los Angeles will definitely have to pay a higher price than say those in a rural area of Georgia.

Besides location, the cost of Botox injections will depend on other factors as well. How qualified the surgeon is, the placement of the injections and how many injections you may need will all play into determining the final Botox treatment cost.

Most practices that administer Botox cosmetic treatments have a flat cost for each injection. But some will break it down by the number of "units" that are used per treatment. The units per treatment vary from approximately $10-$20 per unit, whereas flat rates are usually between $300 and $1000.

Recently there has been an ever-growing trend of, believe it or not, Botox Cosmetic parties. At a Botox party, several people will gather at a specified location to receive Botox injections from an attending physician. This lessens the cost of the injections. Although there have been issued warnings about such parties, they still continue.

With the difference of cost from region to region and because of other varying reasons, the best way to find out about the price of Botox injection is to speak with a qualified physician locally. If you are interested in getting rid of unwanted lines and wrinkles you need to contact a cosmetic dermatologist near you to find out the cost of Botox injections.

Can Wrinkles really be treated with an Anti Wrinkle Cream?

by Ashley Alexis

Wrinkles are inevitable. And everyone is going to get them (some sooner than others). But not everyone is going to know how to treat them.

You see, there is a lot of misinformation when it comes to wrinkles and wrinkle treatment.

Some of us still believe that wrinkles are predominantly a result of aging. And that an anti aging cream and moisturizer will get rid of them.

But this may not be as correct as we think they are.

That is because the main cause of fine lines and wrinkles is over exposure to sunlight. And those UV rays do 2 things to our faces.

Firstly the sun thins the skin. Its UV rays penetrate deeply into the lower layer of living skin (also called the dermis).

However, once those UV rays penetrate into the dermis, free radicals are formed and they destroy those cells. So as a consequence the dermis becomes smaller and feeble.

The more the skin is made flimsy the more those fine lines will develop. Especially on the brow, temple, eye and mouth areas of our faces.

But the job is not yet complete. There is still more to be done for those fine lines to evolve into wrinkles. Do you have any idea of what takes place next?

Well it is due to the loss of our facial fat cells as well as the tightening of the muscles in our faces. Heres the reasoning.

The rays of the sun do not only cause free radical damage in facial skin cells but also in the fat cells. And when these fat cells are destroyed, our skin sags and droops. This allows those threadlike lines to expand into deeper wrinkles.

Additionally, the older we get the more our muscles in our bodies decrease in size and contract. But the muscles in the face are different to the muscles in the rest of the body.

Apart from all the other muscles, the facial muscles are immediately attached to the skin. Therefore when shrinking occurs the skin is also affected. In other words, when these muscles tightened and contract, the skin experiences pulling and tensing. And this causes wrinkles to be enlarged.

So it is clear that the thinning of the skin, the loss of fat as well as the tightening of the facial muscles are the 3 main causes of wrinkles.

Thus an anti wrinkle cream would not be enough to correct all these wrinkle causing factors. Surely a lot more is needed.
