Natural-looking Gel Nails – Are They For You?

If you have short nails and struggle to grow them, you may have investigated the various types of false nails available at salons. Because your hands are on show all day, you want long, attractive nails. Natural-looking gel nails may be just what you need. They can give you longer nails, and protect your natural nails long enough for them to grow out.

Gel nails are made from pre-mixed polymer and monomer gel applied to the nails, then cured. The mixture is odourless, making it more pleasant to work with and have applied, and there is less filling involved so the procedure does not take as long as other types of false nails. There are light-cured gels which need to be cured under UV lights, a no gel nails that are cured with a special gel activator that is brushed or sprayed onto the nail. Some no-light gels are cured by being dipped in plain water. No-light gels have the advantage of taking a shorter time to cure.

They are thin, clear and flexible, making them look and feel more natural than acrylic nails. Gel nails, unlike acrylic nails, do not lift as easily. They don't yellow either, which means that you don't have to polish them to hide the unnatural colour. Gel nails are also glossier than acrylic nails, and you can apply nail polish to them as well. Gel nails also work well with a French Manicure or other nail art designs. In fact, the options with gel nails are limitless.

The biggest advantage of having gel nails applied over other types of false nails is that they do not damage the underlying nail. Most women wanting false nails find it difficult to grow their own nails, or they have nails that grow in awkward shapes. You can choose your preferred length and have the gel nails applied by a professional in a salon quickly and easily. Although home kits are available, it is quite a difficult to procedure to carry out by yourself.

Although gel nails can be less durable than acrylic nails and may cost a little more, the fact that your own nails do not get damaged means that you can use gel nails as a nail enhancement that you apply until your own nails grow. Acrylic nails damage the natural nail to the extent that you find you have to keep re-applying them because your damaged nails look so bad. The advantage of gel nails is that they do not do this, so you do not have to keep replacing them to hide your nails.

Long, well manicured, attractive nails make your hands look better, and since our hands are constantly exposed to the world, most women prefer to keep their nails looking as good as possible. Gel nails protect your nails, allowing them to grow out healthy and strong while keeping up appearances. Instead of waiting months for your nails to grow, hoping none of them will break, you can have gel nails professionally applied and polished to lengthen short nails or strengthen weak ones, allowing them to grow. Natural looking, causing no damage to your nail - that's why you should consider gel nails.

5 Ways to Ease Eczema

Eczema affects the skin and causes itching. While that might not sound too bad at first, anyone who has ever suffered from this condition, also referred to as dermatitis, can tell you that it is extremely uncomfortable. There are several types of eczema, but all of them involve itchiness, whether it be in the form of blisters that pop and ooze or dry scaly skin. Since children and babies are the most commonly affected, it can be very difficult to convince them not to scratch. Scratching, of course, only causes the condition to worsen, so it's important to ease the symptoms and make the sufferer more comfortable.

Use natural moisturizers. Coconut oil is particularly good for this condition. This natural oil works to smooth and soften the rough scaly skin. When the skin is kept soft, it won't cause as much irritation, which means less scratching. This lets the body heal itself. Coconut oil or other natural oils, such as shea butter are good since they don't contain chemicals or artificial perfumes that can aggravate the condition.

Get out in the sun. A little sunshine is a good thing in the case of dermatitis, particularly the type that forms boils. Sunlight helps destroy the bacteria and dry the affected area out. Just be careful not to risk too much exposure. Sunburn won't help anything.

Take a bath. An old remedy for itches of any kind, including eczema is to take a bath in cool water. Make it even more effective by putting a cup of oatmeal in a cloth bag and squeezing it through the water a few times. The oat water that results will be cloudy, but works well to alleviate the irritation of the skin. This is something that you can easily do and it can be quite effective on small children.

Avoid irritants. Often the smallest things can affect our skin and this is particularly true when it comes to dermatitis. Use neutral pH soaps with no perfumes, natural skin care products, stick to natural foods, as much as possible. Anything that contains chemicals and perfumes, from your laundry soap to your air freshener, can cause problems. Try eliminating these things or changing them one by one to discover which is the culprit. Watch what you eat, as well, since often eczema occurs with food allergies.

Drink more water. Often, the dry skin associated with eczema is related to dehydration. While moisturizers can help to a certain point, you should be drinking a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day. Carry a water bottle with you if need be and avoid things like sodas and coffee which can be both irritating and dehydrating.

Eczema often resolves itself, though in some cases, medications may be necessary. While you're waiting, however, you can take these measures to help things along and relieve the itch. You don't need to live with the constant scratching and irritation. There are methods of easing it and making life a little better for those who suffer from this skin condition.
