Despite the fact that there seems to be a plethora of acne products that solely target teenage acne, there are actually quite a number of products that are aimed at adult acne as well. The two that I recommend the most are Proactiv Solution 3-Step System in the extra strength formula and Murad Acne Complex Kit. This recommendation comes from many years of trying out various products from different brands, ranging from over-the-counter products from drug stores and department stores, and prescription medications. None of them seemed to get me the results I wanted - even after using Proactiv for over 4 years. It was not until Proactiv came out with their extra strength formula, consisting of 7% benzoyl peroxide as the active ingredient, that I actually saw continuing results of less acne. Unfortunately though, that was not enough for someone who suffers from oily skin and severe acne. What made the difference was using the Murad Acne Complex Kit simultaneously.

Haven't you ever heard the saying that your skin/hair/body will get used to the same products and will no longer become effective if you use only one kind for years? Well if you haven't, there you go. It's true. It appeared for a while that my skin became used to Proactiv and consequently lost the effect of clearing my acne, since I used it for over 4 years. My skin seemed to get used to the 2.5% benzoyl peroxide that the normal formula of Proactiv contained and my pimples appeared to have gotten immune to that medication. But the extra strength formula that I had started to use about 6 months ago gave my pimples a wake up call and the more potent 7% formula immediately began to clear my skin. And to make sure they do not get use to the extra strength Proactiv as they did with the regular Proactiv formula, I began using Murad Acne Complex Kit as well.

Murad Acne Complex Kit contains salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and retinol to effectively treat acne. Hence the combination of active ingredients found in these two separate product lines allows my skin to get the benefits of the most effective ingredients that treat acne.

It is also reassuring to know that both products from Proactiv and Murad were created by well-known, experienced dermatologists that have gone on to develop their own line of successful skincare products. Proactiv was created by Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields and Murad was developed by Dr. Howard Murad himself.

Both lines of products have also received great reviews and testimonials, and both are fairly affordable (around $60 for a 60-day supply) and fairly easily attainable. Proactiv Solution in the extra strength formula is available through the catalog only (the regular formula and other products are available online and at kiosks in local malls) and Murad Acne Complex Kit and other products are available at most beauty stores and online as well.

My current skin care routine consists of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing with the Murad Acne Complex Kit in the morning and cleansing, toning, and moisturizing with Proactiv extra strength formula in the evening and as cliche as it sounds, my skin has never looked better.

Sure, I still have pimples and my skin is not flawless, but it is the most smooth it has been since I hit puberty. But it is important to remember that not all skin react the same way to the same products so the effects of the products will vary from one person to another.

Although there are a great variety of products on the market that promise to make pimples disappear fast, most of them leave your skin dry, irritated, and worst of all...still blemished.

by Morayma Makay

Although there are a great variety of products on the market that promise to make pimples disappear fast, most of them leave your skin dry, irritated, and worst of all...still blemished.

Although I did not suffer from acne as a teenager, upon becoming a mom and experiencing the joys of hormonal changes, sleep deprivation and stress in general, my skin has decided to allow unsightly pimples to claim prime real estate everywhere from my nose to my forehead and even my chin. Therefore, I am no stranger to every zit zapping product on the market from chemicals to botanical's, they all take up space in my medicine cabinet, and very few have effectively helped me get rid of my blemishes in record time, until now.

A month ago I discovered a product called Zeno at my local discount store. Priced at $149 I was a little aghast and decided on the spot that it was not going to be worth trying. Curiosity did get the best of me after a few days and I decided to research the product and kept reading glowing reviews and praises about this little cell phone-sized machine called Zeno that promises to zap zits within 24 hours. The 30 day money back guarantee was the icing on the cake, so I ran out and got one and have been nothing but pleased with my purchase.

Aside from being a mom of two young children, I also work as a fashion model. To have an acne break-out is to be out of work until my skin clears up. Most creams, ointments, gels, etc. have always either dried up my skin while the pimple still stayed in place, or would do absolutely nothing at all. This would mean that I would find myself out of commission for up to two weeks, as I tend to get cystic acne and the inflammation from those can often last for over 10 days. You can hide redness with make-up but not a huge lump! Going to the dermatologist for a cortisone shot is a great way to get rid of those huge buggers, but some of us may not have the time, insurance, or even a good dermatologist nearby to take that approach. That's why Zeno is such a great alternative for getting rid of blemishes quickly.

What Zeno has done for me is allow me to catch a pimple as it is starting to appear, and flatten it within 24 to 48 hours. It's amazing! So, how does Zeno work? What is this magic apparatus? Well, it's not so much magic as it is science. Zeno is a hand held device with a small tip that you apply directly to your pimple. The tip heats up to a pre-set temperature, which is high enough to cause the bacteria in your pimple to, in effect, destroy itself, yet low enough to not burn your skin. With two or three treatments within a 24 hour period, your average sized pimple virtually disappears. Some redness from the pimple may remain for a day or two, but the inflammation disappears completely and you can dab on some concealer and look as if you had never battled a blemish in your life.

The makers of Zeno, Tyrell Co., state that the device is not intended for cystic acne and may not work to eliminate it. However, I have used it on my cystic pimples and have had great results as have several others that I have recommended this product too. With a cystic pimple I have applied Zeno to it one to two times more than with a regular pimple and within 48 hours the mass and inflammation of the cyst has gone down significantly. As I mentioned before, cystic pimples will last for up to 10 days on my face, sometimes even longer than that. So, you can imagine that a 48 hour turnaround has been a dream come true for me! As with anything, you should use caution and also know how your skin reacts to low levels of heat. Some people that use Zeno have no discoloration whatsoever after applying it, while others will have a little light red spot where they used the device which fades away within a few minutes. If you have hyper sensitive skin, I would recommend asking your dermatologist if Zeno is the right option for you.

While some people feel nothing when they apply Zeno to their pimples, I do notice the heat from the thermal tip. On more sensitive areas like my cheeks and around my mouth it burns a little at first and then my skin becomes used to the sensation and I don't feel anymore discomfort. On areas with tougher skin, like my chin and forehead, I don't feel even the slightest twinge from the heat. Everyone is different though, so while one consumer may feel no pain at all, another may feel a bit of a burning sensation. In my opinion, a little bit of burn is worth a lot of pimple removal!

With a price tag of $149, it's easy to see how this product may get passed up, especially since it's located in the same aisle as acne creams and washes. Why buy something that expensive when the item next to it is an acne scrub that costs $3? Well, the answer is simple: It works. When I first saw the price, I have to admit that I was put off, but after I calculated how much money I had spent in just one year on ointments, acne treatment kits, antibiotics, and the works, $149 was just a drop in the bucket! For a while I was using a very well-known acne treatment product that was costing me almost $60 every two months. After almost half a year of using it, with unremarkable results, I was out of much more money than my Zeno cost!

So if pimples are plaguing you like they were plaguing me, and you've tried everything to no avail, give Zeno a try. You have nothing to lose but those nasty zits. I know that mine has helped me feel ready for the camera rather than wanting to run for cover, and believe me, there were days I wanted to walk around with a paper bag over my head. I love getting even with my acne now!

People who have acne would give anything to get rid of it; no wonder acne control products are so popular. But how would you determine which products work and which don't? What is the difference between them all? The truth is that the difference is mostly packaging and marketing strategy to promote a particular product. Majority of acne creams have similar ingredients, some stronger some milder. Here we list 7 acne creams that actually work.

1. DDF BP Gel also includes Tea Tree Oil

DDF BP Gel contains 5 percent benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide works well to treat acne, and 5 percent is a mild but effective concentration. This cream also contains tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is generally beneficial for your skin, and it fights acne as well. It has antibacterial properties that help prevent acne breakouts. Most people who use this cream notice that their skin feels better after a week of applying the cream. It is effective to cure acne and it doesn't dry your skin out.

2. Acne Solutions Emergency Gel Lotion by Clinique

This product has many positive customer reviews. It really helps to fight acne that keeps reappearing. It unclogs pores filled with bacteria and controls oil production on your skin. You will see reduced redness and inflammation in just a few days. Clinique Acne Solutions is a strong cream with high concentration of benzoyl peroxide. One disadvantage - it is more expensive than other acne control products.

3. Persa Gel by Johnson and Johnson

Works very effectively to treat present acne spots and to prevent feature breakouts of blackheads and whiteheads. This product also contains benzoyl peroxide; the concentration of it is 10 percent. This is the highest concentration allowed for non prescription acne medicine. Persa Gel is water based, so it works for all skin types. This is a very popular acne cream; you can find it in any chemist shop.

4. Blemish Double Agent Treatment from Biore

This cream is not benzoyl peroxide based; instead it protects your skin from acne by sealing in salicylic acid. It also keeps out the dirt to prevent farther inflammation. The manufacturer claims that you will see blemishes reduced after one application, most people report seeing results in 3 - 5 days. It is gentle and doesn't dry your skin.

5. Oxy 10 Balance Emergency Spot Treatment

This is a very strong acne cream that will cure the worst of acne. However, use it with care; it only should be used to cure existing acne, not as a preventive method. It also might irritate sensitive skin, so if you applied Oxy 10 and your skin feels irritated, this product is not for you.

6. Clinique Acne Solutions Concealing Cream

This cream belongs to the same line of Acne Solutions by Clinique as the gel mentioned before. This is not a medicine as such, but a make up item. Everybody who has acne knows that finding the right make up to hide it is a problem. Most foundations and concealers only make your acne worse. In contrast Acne Solutions Concealing Cream is specifically formulated for acne affected skin. It heals acne as well as hides it. If you use make up for acne, this cream works very well to conceal blemishes. But like all Clinique products it is not cheap.

7. Natural herbal acne creams

You would be surprised but you can make some effective natural acne creams at home. One effective treatment is a mix of banana, avocado and vitamin E ointment. You can buy vitamin E concentrated cream in a chemist or order it online. To make the cream take half a tea spoon of vitamin E ointment, one small avocado and half a banana and blend them in a blender. Apply this acne remedy to your face and keep for several minutes.

Natural acne remedies work very well for some people. The only disadvantage is that you can not store them like you would do with a bought cream. For example banana and avocado cream can stay in your fridge for a day, but not much longer.

A word of caution

Acne creams are effective in getting rid of acne, but most of them have the same drawback. It makes your skin very sensitive to sunlight. So when you use an acne control cream, use a good sunblock cream as well.

Try some of the acne creams we mentioned. They work effectively for most people. You don't have to live with acne on your face. With so many effective acne treatments, you surely can find acne treatment that would actually work for you.

From the age of 14 onwards, I was plagued with terrible acne. By the time I was 35, after 20 years of suffering, I still had severe breakouts on my face, arms, back and chest. I had spent thousands of dollars on visits to the dermatologist, numerous acne creams - both over the counter and prescription - and antibiotics and other medications. All to no avail. My skin was still awful, it was embarrassing to wear short sleeved shirts or clothes that showed my neck and chest, and forget about swimming. In a million years, I would never have gone out in public in a swim suit as my skin was so ugly.

Then one day, about 7 years ago, I was browsing around the internet and decided to do a search for 'Acne Treatments'. I read the usual stuff about antibiotics, Accutane, herbal remedies and various over the counter ointments and creams. "Been there, done that, tried that, doesn't work", I thought. I clicked to the next page and my eyes fell upon an article on a study that had been done in Singapore with a group of people of Chinese descent who had acne.

The participants were aged from 10 to 30 years old. The study talked about how Dr. Lit-Hung Leung (the doctor responsible for the study) had given the participants 10 grams of Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) every day in 4 divided doses. They were also given a cream to use which contained 20% Pantothenic Acid. Within a few weeks, almost every participant in the study had reduced their acne significantly or cured it altogether. They also noticed an enormous difference in oil production (sebum) on their skin and markedly smaller pores.

After reading the article, I looked on line and discovered that Pantothenic Acid is a water-soluble vitamin. What this means is that you can take just about as much as you want without any overdose problems as, whatever your body doesn't need, is simply eliminated in your urine. Obviously, from everything I read online, there was no danger in trying the large doses of the vitamin. So, I tried it.

I went to the drugstore and bought a huge bottle of Pantothenic Acid and took my first dose. I started off by taking 10 grams (twenty 500mg pills) every day. Within 3 days of beginning the treatment, I began to notice my pores were smaller. The amount of oil my skin was producing was also less. As you could normally run a small car off the amount of oil my skin produced daily, this in itself was a huge development. Then, within the week, new acne stopped appearing all over my body and old acne began to heal.

One month later, I had completely clear skin. Clear skin on my face, my chest, my arms and my back. After over 20 years of severe acne, you can only imagine how this made me feel. For the first time, I could wear sleeveless blouses, low necks and swimsuits!

I have since continued to take the Pantothenic Acid. After about 6 months of staying with the 10grams a day amount, I gradually decreased it down to 4 grams (8 500mg pills) and that's what I continue to take daily as a maintenance dose to maintain my clear skin. I do notice if I forget to take the pills for a few days, my skin begins to erupt again. Going right back to taking the pills gets rid of the acne quickly though.

A quick tip - I order my Pantothenic Acid tablets from several websites as I have found it's much cheaper to buy from these sources than from a drug store, especially if you buy several bottles at one time as they often then give free shipping.

I have also recommended this treatment to numerous friends with acne and only ever had one report that it did little good. However, I don't think he was taking the vitamin consistently, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was why he didn't see the results everyone else saw. The most recent friend I recommended Pantothenic Acid to just reported back that her skin is already clear after only 3 weeks of treatment. She's ecstatic.

After years of struggling with terrible acne, which made my life so difficult, I would recommend anyone to try this simple treatment. It's easy to do, not very expensive (less than $25 a month if you order from one of the many online sources that sell the vitamin), isn't harmful, and really works!

You can get more information about Dr. Leung's study by reading his published paper at http://www.coenzyme-a.com/acne_vulgaris.html. There are also hundreds of other sources on the internet mentioning the effects of Pantothenic Acid on acne. Do some research then decide for yourself. Is it worth the chance that it may work for you? I believe it is and sincerely hope you will have the same results I have had.

Acne is the most common prevalent skin disorder which 70% of the adolescents get during the transitional period. It is the most menacing disease though not fatal but affects these young children emotionally when they are ridiculed for not having clear skin.

Acne is the result of the overproduction of the sebum an oily substance secreted by the sebaceous gland in the skin. If the sebum remains clogged in the follicle openings, it becomes hard and dark forming plugs called blackheads. Depending upon the severity of the disorder, treatment can be done. The acne sulfur treatment is one such treatment.

The topical medications like sulfur drug preparation is considered to be extremely effective for acne. Sulfur has a peeling effect on the skin. It helps to loosen and dislodge the blackheads from the pores. Current research suggests that acne sulfur treatments do not have any side effects, but still it is always essential to take any treatment under the guidance of the dermatologist.

Deficiencies of zinc also causes acne, so eat food which has high zinc content like red meat, beans, oysters and nuts. Don't sunbathe, use sunscreens while going out. Do get fresh air and sunshine as vitamin D is prevalent but don't over do it. Drink lots of water, which helps to reduce the formation of severe blackheads.

The sulfur based products are available in creams and lotions, which help in reducing the bacteria to help control the whiteheads and inflammation spots. There are special vitamin tablets which help to reduce the hormonal imbalance of the body, by enhancing the circulation of the cells, naturally tightening of the pores, transforming the oil skin into a smooth and fresh skin.

Another kind of acne sulfur treatment is the use of sulfur facial masks which can be used in a weekly basis. Sometimes it comes with the product called resorcinol which has an unpleasant odor and it gives dry patch, so it is better to use it at nights.

There are many websites, which give acne sulfur treatment guides, options and the number of latest acne products available in the market today. It also gives the latest treatment methods, advice and reviews of the patients. But care should be taken to take any step based on this information on the net. Acne sulfur treatment can be done after consulting a Dermatologist to avoid risk. After all, these acne's are found mostly in the face, which is the most valuable asset of a person.

Acne is not a serious problem. There is a wide range of treatment options to tackle this skin disorder, if one can select an acne sulfur treatment with the combination of other treatments and follow a balanced diet and exercise regularly one can get rid of this skin disorder.

If you have, or know someone who has, adult acne, here are some natural therapies you might want to try to relieve your condition. These natural acne treatments are much easier on your skin than conventional acid washes and creams. You might notice that if you try the natural solution, your skin will be glowing like never before.

Manuka honey can be used instead of a face wash. I actually use it in the shower for my whole body. It is anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and leaves your skin feeling fresh and clean. No, it isn't sticky. Just squirt some in a wash cloth and use just like you would any other liquid soap. Try it one time, and you will be amazed!

For more stubborn acne, try mixing a few drops of tea tree or rosemary essential oil into the Manuka honey you use for your face wash or in place of your shower soap. Both have been proven effective at reducing the bacteria, viruses, yeasts and fungus issues that can be the cause of acne outbreaks. If you just can't get past the idea of using honey as a body or face wash, Thursday Plantation makes a Tea Tree soap that is awesome at controlling acne outbreaks, without drying out your skin.

Warm compresses and steam facials are also highly effective at controlling acne. Heat kills bacteria known to be associated with acne. However, if your acne is caused by yeast, steam and warm compresses can make it worse. Yeast likes a warm, damp environment so pay attention if you choose this solution for your adult acne. If it seems to be getting worse, stick to other methods, such as tea tree or rosemary essential oil which are clinically proven to control acne that is caused by yeast.

Conventional lotions and creams contain a lot of chemicals and alcohol that clinical studies have shown can cause an acne outbreak. You might want to avoid these antagonists and try using coconut oil as a moisturizer. It helps keep the cells from drying out and provides a protective barrier to help your skin repel bacteria and yeast that can cause an outbreak of adult acne. Jojoba is another natural oil that is perfect for controlling acne and keeping your skin moisturized. If you use too much of a natural oil when choosing this method of moisturizer, just wipe off the excess with a clean, dry cloth.

Baking soda is a perfect natural exfoliant to help keep dry skin cells from plugging your pores and leading to an outbreak of adult acne. Just mix with soap or warm water and rub lightly on your skin. Baking soda will gently remove dead skin cells and helps to kill bacteria that can cause adult acne. Your skin will be soft, smooth and glowing after a gentle baking soda scrub.

And my last suggestion is to try a little sunlight to control your adult acne. The UV rays are scientifically proven to kill bacteria and stimulate circulation which helps to control acne and other skin problems. Skin cancer is caused by burning your skin so use some common sense. A little sunlight is not only beneficial for your skin, but also helps create a natural glow that you can't get from a jar.

No matter whether you choose a natural approach or a conventional approach to control your adult acne, I wish you the best of luck!

Acne is an inflammatory skin disorder characterized by pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. Acne affects about 80% of people between the ages of 12-35, to some degree. Acne can have severe effects on its sufferers, including emotional stress and low self-esteem.

Acne often arises at puberty, when hormone production go into overdrive. These hormones stimulate the production of oils which often become trapped in pores, causing blemishes. Sebum is an oily skin lubricant which is produces from these hormones. When sebum combine with skin pigments and block the pores, blackheads occur. Whiteheads appear when sebum fills scales below the surface of the skin.

Factors that contribute to acne include heredity, oily skin, monthly menstrual cycles, imbalance of hormones, and overabundance of yeast (candidiasis). Allergies, stress, use of certain drugs (steroids, oral contraceptives), and exposure to environmental pollutants can also be factors in acne.

The skin is the largest organ in the body. Eliminating toxic waste from the body through sweating is one of its major functions. An overly toxic body, due to improper functioning of the liver and/ or kidney, is often a major cause of acne.

Nutrients for Curing Acne

Acidophilus Dosage: as recommended on label replenishes essential "good" bacteria to reduce outbreaks of acne.

Chromium picolinate Dosage: as recommended on label helps to reduce infections of the skin and acne.

Flaxseed Oil or Evening Primrose Oil Dosage: as recommended on label supplies needed gamma-lineolic acid to keep skin soft and smooth. Repairs tissues and dissolves fatty deposits that block pores and cause acne.

Potassium Dosage: 99 mg daily acne has been associated with potassium deficiency.

Vitamin A with Betatine Dosage: as recommended on label strengthens skin tissue and acts as an antioxidant.

Vitamin B Complex Dosage: 100 mg of each major B vitamin 3 times daily. The anti-stress vitamin, aids in healthy skin tone.

Vitamin C with bioflavanoids Dosage: as recommended on label enhances immune system and reduces inflammation.

Vitamin E Dosage: 400 IU daily an antioxidant that helps in tissue repair and skin healing.

Herbs for Treating Acne

-Burdock root and red clover are blood cleansers; burdock also contains inulin, which removes bacteria and improves quality of skin.

-Milk thistle aids the liver. Liver dysfunction can lead to acne.

-Lavender essential oil can be applied directly to blemishes and acts as an antibiotic and antiseptic.

-Chaste tree berry helps in preventing PMS-related breakouts.

Time has come to clear some of the rubble surrounding the cause and cure of acne. You see, misinformation will only lead you down the path of frustration and discouragement. You will never receive the radiant skin you so desire based on hearsay and snake oil. Misinformation is everywhere. I shudder at some of the things I read online or even hear within my own peer groups. Maybe you have heard and read about them to so keep reading and lets get to the bottom of it all. Remember, knowledge is power and power will help you end the breakouts!

1. The Old Soap And Water Theory

Back when I was a kid I can't tell you how many times I heard that one. I was convinced that if you just scrubbed your skin off...viola! A great complexion. Truth is acne only gets worse the more you scrub. It does eliminate dirt and bacteria.....and that is important but in the end it only lead to dry, cracked, irritated skin that will open you up to infection and a worse crop of acne.

Remember, over production of sebum is the main culprit behind the zit problem. It is essential that you keep your skin clean and dry as this will help you in your battle over acne. Always try and wash your face twice daily and pat dry with a soft towel. Be aware of the soap you are using. The skin on your face is very sensitive and even a mild reaction to harsh cleansers will have a negative effect. If you are looking for products that are gentle on your skin I will be posting a review and recommendation page shortly. I will explore all types of products, treatments, and remedies. My reviews will remain completely unbiased and non sponsored. I will be spilling the beans on whether my research reveals as to their effectiveness. Come back often or better yet subscribe to my RSS feed. See how all those products you see advertised hold up under scrutiny.

2. Chocolate Gives Me Pimples!

Again, I have head this one for as long as I can remember. Coca Cola, most fried foods and pizza fall into this one as well.

First off, we are all genetically different. What affects one will not affect another. Chocolate happens to be very high in fat and sugar. Some people will attribute that to acne. At this point in time there are absolutely no studies that point to food as a cause of acne. NONE except this one exception and that is milk. Particularly low fat milk and mainly in pregnant or menopausal women. Most researchers agree that hormones and other additives in cows milk may be the main cause. Studies are ongoing as of this writing. Could chocolate be a link in a chain that causes acne in some people. Maybe. I think it has more to do with genetics and don't go and confuse food allergies to acne. Minor allergic reactions can mimic the symptoms of acne. There have been some indigenous cultures in times past who have never had a case of acne across their entire population line. Did diet play a role? Studies have been inconclusive thus far and I can tell you that the Hershey bar in my pantry will not survive the night!

3. Popping Pimples Makes Them Go Away Faster

This myth present a couple of problems. First popping the zit will get rid of the pus, relieve the pressure and swelling and make the zit appear smaller. Something we all want right? Remember the finger and bacteria thing I mentioned earlier? Second, most people apply way to much pressure. They squeeze and pinch until they make their face bleed. All they have accomplished is more tissue damage and help spread the infection all over their face. If you can use a sterile needle and disinfecting wipes you will usually heal faster. Not doing it this way will only make it worse. The bad news is that most people do not do it the right way so health care professional try and discourage treating acne in this fashion.

4. Tanning Helps Clear My Skin

The fact is that the sun in very harsh on your skin especially if you are over exposed. The sun can cause premature aging, skin cancer and a host of other problems. It can actually lead to increased outbreaks of acne. Always try to use what is called nonacnegenic SPF sunscreen before venturing into the sun for prolonged periods of time. More on nonacnegenic's will be posted on my products page.

5. Makeup Will Give You Acne

Long ago there may have been a bit of truth to this. I suspect it was more an irritant than a cause though. Today there are tons of nonacnegenic makeup on the market that are designed to be kind and gentle to your face. Using them properly should prevent any kind of acne problem. Some brands even contain popular over the counter ingredients used to fight acne and also serve to conceal your acne as well. If you suffer from moderate to severe acne you should consult with your health care professional about the use of makeup until you achieve some level of suppression. Generally speaking, makeup does not in any way cause acne.

6. More Medication Means Quicker Healing

Nothing could be further from the truth. Acne medications use powerful drying agents. Overuse of these medications will result in dry irritated skin. That will result in a worse case of acne. Be especially careful if you are taking oral medications. That could be dangerous! It can take a couple of months before you see results taking oral medications so have patience. If your topical medication is not working to your satisfaction try something else. There are lots of alternatives. Something will work for you. One more thing. Do not stop taking your prescribed mediation early because you think your acne is gone. This could lead to a recurrence that may be worse in the long run.

7. Sex Causes Acne

Don't believe It. This myth can be traced all the way back to the 1700's. It was spread about to try and discourage teenagers from hooking up. Can you imagine how many innocent teens were persecuted for having a raging case of acne back then! Although it is true that hormones play a prominent role in acne it has absolutely nothing to do with sexual activity.

Well, there you have it. The acne Myth Busters. I hope I have answered some of your questions and have given you information that will help you in your quest for beautiful skin.

If you have stretch marks, there is no question as to why you would seek a stretch mark remedy. Seeing stretch marks on your body can affects your self esteem, which is why most people seek the best stretch mark cream or stretch mark treatments available.

What are Stretch Marks and What Causes Them?

Stretch marks occur when connective tissue in the skin breaks down in the dermis. At the beginning it looks a bit like purplish riverbeds. Over time that coloration disappears and what's left is silver lines that can grow wider and longer. Worse, make up doesn't seem to help much. Stretch marks are one of the most common skin changes during pregnancy and excess weight gain.

The cause of stretch marks can vary. Some people may get them due to hormonal changes (like pregnancy and growth spurs). Some may experience them when they loose or gain weight. Others still may find that gaining or loosing muscle causes stretch marks. Other potential contributing factors include poor diet, dramatic environmental changes, and prescription medications.

Effects?

While stretch marks are harmless they can effective a person's self-esteem. Especially is someone has worked hard to get in good shape and lose weight but are now left with tons of stretch marks, with no effective stretch mark remedy in sight.

Are There Stretch Mark Remover Remedies?

There are hundreds of stretch mark remover creams and stretch mark remedies on the market. One popular product is the use of cocoa butter. Others include vitamin E or lemon juice. These options look good when compared to the $1000 bill for laser surgery stretch mark removal (that's per session!). However, the effectiveness of these remedies varies from person to person.

Stretch Mark Treatments:

The editors of Wrinkle Free Skin Tips have found a product, called a Derma roller, that's extremely effective for removing stretch marks. This little hand held device can be used by anyone, even if you're pregnant because its not a cream and is not toxic. In addition, its much more cost effective than laser surgery. The Derma Roller can also be used to remove lines, wrinkles, scars, and cellulite. It does by encouraging collagen production in the skin. And the derma roller is safe and FDA approved.

Your skin is the most important part of you -in a sense that is. A glowing, beautiful skin is always attractive and most people would kill to have it anytime any day. Nutritionists and experts consistently advise taking good sunscreen care of the skin. Research has shown that people who neglect their skin and are altogether nonchalant about this important part of their bodies often get to regret it later on as they age faster than their counterparts. There are various ways via which the skin can be taken care of and maintained so that it consistently gives that ageless quality that we all so desire.

Apart from using moisturizers to protect the skin from scales and dryness, exfoliators and cleaners, skin care experts and nutritionists often advise that the amount of fatty food taken be low, fruits are also advised as a critical part of our daily diets. Because fruits contain anti-oxidants, the body tends to process it more and there are little or no fatty deposits.

Another important tip to note is reducing the amount of time spent in the sun. During the summer, it is normal for everybody to want to go to the beach and suntan. People often buy tanning lotions and creams. One other important skin protector used during the summer are the sunscreen lotions. Sunscreen lotions and creams basically prevent your skin from the direct contact of UV rays which can cause skin cancer. In fact, according to the FDA, over ten thousand people die of skin cancer every year. While skin cancer isnt caused by just extreme exposure to sun, over seventy percent of the total number of deaths recorded is as a result of skin cancer.

People who expose themselves to the sun without using any form of sunscreen are at a risk of developing melanoma, and aging faster. Estimates between the number of people who had cancer in 1998 and 2000, showed that between the ten year period, the number of people who had been diagnosed with skin cancer had increased by sixty seven percent and out of this, over fifty percent were melanoma related cases caused by increased exposure to the sun.

Protecting your skin from the direct impact of UV rays include getting fully clothed, applying sunscreen lotions containing SPF 15. This works great and should be applied fifteen minutes before even steeping out into the sun. If you have to use a moisturizer, make the sunscreen the foundation before applying the moisturizer. It is important to know that while tanning creams and lotions can protect you from getting sunburned, it cannot function as sunscreen which protects you from skin cancer and over-exposure.

While the sunscreen is mostly applied by many people during the summer, wise people apply it all year round. As they know that even when it isnt sunny and the temperature isnt scorching, they need to use it to help eliminate and fade away the wrinkles on their face or aging signs.
