Different Treatments For Acne

Acne is a common skin disease that is characterized by appearance of pimples in almost any part of the body. There are different types of acne treatments available and they are broadly classified into medications and procedures. The various types of medications are antibiotics, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, nicotinamide, retinoid, azelaic acid, alpha hydroxyl acid, and kera-tolytic soaps. The procedures include dermabrasion, phototherapy, and surgery.

Shedding into the pores to avoid blockage, killing acne bacteria, anti-inflammatory effects, and hormonal manipulation are the four different ways treatments are believed to work. Benzoyl peroxide is the greatest treatment for the average or mild acne problems. Antibiotics are used simply in harsh skin conditions. Commonly used antibiotics are tetracyclines, erythromycin, minocycline, and clindamycin. Hormonal treatments are normally recommended only for females. Hormonal contraception treatment that uses the combination of progesterone/estrogen method is little effective.

Topical retinoids are used for normalizing the life cycle of the follicle cell and the popular topical retinoids are Adapalene, Tretinoin, and Tazarotene. Retinols are nothing but one form of vitamin A and this has been used in many moisturizers and topical products. Daily intake of oral retinoids for about 4 to 6 months will significantly reduce the acne problem. But, this treatment requires supervision by dermatologists, and especially pregnant women should not take this drug without the prescription of doctors.

Another type of acne treatment is anti-inflammatory medicines, such as Nicotinamide, Rofecoxib, Naproxen, and Calendula. Nicotinamide is used in the form of gel and naproxen is used for easygoing acne conditions. Dermabrasion is the cosmetic process where the surface of the affected skin is removed by ways of abrasion. This method is used to get rid of dark spots, scars, and sun-damaged skin. Today, there is also laser dermabrasion methods that are extremely effective, easier to control, and bloodless when measured up to the normal procedures.

For the treatment using light in acne is known as Phototherapy. This is a short-term treatment. Patients who suffer from severe acne such as boils and cystic acne, surgical lancing is used to do away with the affected skin. It is always better to consult a dermatologist prior to going for any kind of treatment as the wrong choice can lead to several side-effects.

How To Get A Rosier Complexion For Mature Skin

It's important to use oil based foundations, creamy blushers and moisturizing powders to help your skin appear dewier and give your complexion a little more moisture. Simply by searching for certain words such as dewy, hydrating, or revitalize, you can find the right makeup for mature skin.

Using a mineral oil based foundation is recommended for women under 50, and for those women 50 and older it is suggested to use a creamy foundation. Exercising is important to keep your body and skin fit. As you perspire, you cleanse your skin from the inside out. If you're older and work out four times a week, you would be able to use the same foundation recommended for woman in her thirties. We certainly do not want to bring attention to fine line, so at all costs, avoid using oil free foundations, powdered blushers, and oil blotting powders.

If you wear little or no makeup, reconsider. Even a hint of color on your cheeks or lips can perk up a sallow complexion. Mature skin tends to yellow with or without sun damage. Wearing brighter makeup can give mature skin a more youthful appearance.

The key to brightening up your face without creating an unnatural or overly made up look is to select foundation, powder and blusher for your individual skin tone and go for subtlety. For example, mature skin is flattered by muted shades of eye shadow (a green shadow with a touch of brown, rather than a bright green) and cream based lipstick in clear, strong colors like pink and coral. But avoid matte (non-shiny) lipsticks, which can make your skin look dry, and frosted eye shadows, which can give your eyes a crepe-like look.

Cosmetic surgery can take years off your appearance, boosting your self confidence in the bargain. But a more youthful face can't make you happier, save a relationship or change your life. So before you even schedule an appointment with a dermatologist or plastic surgeon, examine your reasons for wanting the surgery and make sure your expectations are realistic. After all, you're talking about a serious-and expensive-medical procedure.

You should also make sure you know about all the available options-surgical and non-surgical-and what they can or cannot do. Collagen injections, facial peels and dermabrasion eliminate wrinkles but won't tighten loose, sagging skin like an eye lift or face lift will. All cosmetic surgery carries risks, which you should discuss with your dermatologist or surgeon at your consultation.
