Acne Vitamin

by Brad Davenport

Acne is a skin condition that presents itself mildly with some, having just a few spots or pimples, to extreme cases of cystic acne that covers the entire face and neck. This can cause physical and emotional stress because the acne is so visual and in an exposed area. It has been suggested that there could be one acne vitamin, sort of a cure all, as far as acne is concerned.

But that does not seem likely. However substantial research has been done and in fact there are vitamins that will help fight acne. These vitamins do help to dispel the effects of our polluted air and clogged pores which prevents the onset of acne.

What we need is the removal of toxins from our bodies. Vitamins and minerals do that for us because they are anti-oxidants. A healthy body and organ system are dependent on these anti-oxidants. The largest organ in or on the body is the skin, of course. Nutrition has been blamed for blemishes and a plethora of skin complaints, or should I say, poor nutrition and lack of the correct vitamins and minerals.

Take care with acne vitamins, because overdosing may trigger an outbreak of acne. As an excretory organ as well as the protective layer against the environment, the skin aids in the removal of toxins from our bodies. The skin removes body toxins, wastes and sweat. Because of this the skin would have to remove the excess, unwanted vitamins.

Acne Vitamins include Vitamin A which helps to reduce the production of oil and that will help to prevent acne and strengthen the protective tissues. Vitamin A is necessary for the repair and maintenance of the mucous membranes and assists in the transportation of toxins from the body.

Vitamin B contains Riboflavin, Pantothenic Acid, Niacin and Pyridoxine. Our body's skin depends on these for it's overall health. The Vitamin B complex has an important role to play in the reduction of stress and anxiety. Both of which have been attributed to a cause of acne. Along with added stress and increased hormone production comes higher levels of oil which will clog the pores increasing the chances of acne.

Vitamin B1 acts as an antioxidant flushing out toxins from the body as well as helping in digestion and circulation of the blood. Vitamin B2 " Riboflavin- should be taken with Vitamin A for better absorption. It is used to maintain and improve mucous membranes, hair, skin and nails. Lack of B2 has been shown to lead to acne making it a important vitamin for acne supplement.

Another acne vitamin is Vitamin B3 or Niacinamide which improves circulation essential for the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins. Vitamin B5, Pantothenic Acid, is vital for reducing stress and required for the proper function of the adrenal glands which regulates some of the bodys hormones.

The body's immune system is absolutely needed to fight off bacterial growth, without the immune system functioning at it's best, the bacterial growth can overpower the organs which can lead to rampant infection. That can also have a detrimental effect on the skin, although to a lesser extent. Pyridoxine or Vitamin B6 can help to protect the function of the immune system.

Another of the vitamins for acne is Vitamin C, a powerhouse of an anti-oxidant that helps the function and repair of tissue growth as well as boosting immune system and protection against infection.Vitamin E helps by preventing the accumulation of excess fat and protecting against the formation of free radicals and cell damage.

Prior to starting on a non standard multi-vitamin course, please discuss at length with your dermatologist, what your exact intentions are. Never take an excess amount of fat soluble vitamins. Unlike water soluble vitamins, which are flushed through the kidneys and out of the body, excess fat soluble vitamins are actually stored in the fat of the body. This can and possibly will lead to unpleasant side effects that you will want to avoid. Please discuss this with your doctor first.

Using acne vitamins in conjunction with improved nutrition, can be a long term cost effective method of battling acne, without the need for prescription medication. However good nutrition doesn't just help promote a healthy skin. It has been shown time and again, that healthy nutrition helps fight weight gain and can reduce the side effects of some pretty significant illnesses.
