Skin Care After 50

by Amy Nutt

Love the Skin You're In With so much out there to enjoy, baby boomers are looking gladly toward their "fabulous fifties." Men and women in their fifties and sixties have so much more to look forward to than any other aging generation ever has. Even though folks in their 50's are younger today than they ever were before, they still must face the issue of aging skin. Taking the right steps, however, can help prevent rapid aging of the skin.

Step 1 - Recognize the Signs of Aging By recognizing the changes in you skin, or knowing what to expect, you can deal more effectively with what your skin is likely to do after you turn 50. Below is a list of common symptoms and skin issues that people over 50 years of age typically describe:

Lines and wrinkles may start developing into skin folds Sagging and droopy skin, especially in "jowl" area Skin tone tends to become more uneven Increased number of "sun spots," also known as "liver spots"

Step 2 - Take Preventative Measures The best way to have the most radiant skin possible after 50 is to start taking preventative measures way earlier in life. Though you may feel that it is too late to start this now, it is never too late to prevent further damage. One of the most effective things you can do to protect your skin from damage is to stay out of the sun. Stay in the shade, or protect yourself with sunblock, sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat and anything else you can think of to keep the sun's rays off your skin. Also, try to avoid exposing your skin to harsh chemicals such as those found in swimming pools and Jacuzzis, etc.

Step 3 - Your Skin Care Ritual Treat your skin kindly, and it will return the favor. Dedicate at least 15 minutes each morning or night to your beauty routine. Commit to making it a habit by caring for your skin every single day. If you haven't stopped doing it yet, now is a great time to stop going to bed without properly removing makeup, cleansing, toning and moisturizing your face. Best results can be achieved by developing not only a nighttime skincare ritual but a morning ritual (including application of sun protection) as well.

Your skin care routine will depend on your specific skin type and how much it actually requires. The types of products you use in your beauty ritual will also depend on what's best for your skin. Consult with a dermatologist or skin care consultant for specific recommendations. For skin over 50, the following beauty routine is a good starting point.

Wash skin with a rich cream or emulsion based cleanser Tone skin with a gentle skin freshener such as rosewater Apply moisturizer with SPF and anti-aging benefits Apply anti-aging night cream to face, neck and backs of hands Apply anti-aging eye cream

Take the time to care for your skin properly, and you'll feel young for years to come.

Eye Cream For Sensitive Skin

by Amy Nutt

Harsh elements in the environment and chemicals found in many of the products we use have caused our skin to sustain a substantial amount of damage. Looking after our skin naturally has become a popular choice for many consumers. Petroleum derivatives, chemicals, preservatives, scents, and colors can greatly diminish the health of our skin. One area that can be sensitive to both environmental elements and synthetic skin products is the region of skin around our eyes. The skin around the eyes is very delicate and thin, which makes it one of the first areas where skin damage is noticeable. Fortunately, there are organic eye care skin products that are gentle on the skin and improve skin health.

Herbal extracts, plant oils, and natural oils found in organic eye cream products offer a number of health benefits that include vitamins, antioxidants, minerals and essential fatty acids. These organic products do not contain harmful substances such as Parabens, ethyl alcohol, artificial fragrances, petrochemicals, phthalates, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, synthetic chemicals, petroleum byproducts, and chemical additives. As well, they are not grown using synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers which are damaging to the skin and the environment. They are truly natural instead of a manufactured product.

Organic eye creams restore and repair damaged skin, improves skin firmness, improves circulation, provides much needed nourishment with its vitamins and minerals, and moisturizes and hydrates the skin thereby improving the skin's elasticity. The result of using these natural eye creams is skin rejuvenation, reduced fine lines and puffiness around the eyes, as well as diminished dark circles around the eyes. Organic eye creams soothe sensitive skin and are much gentler that manufactured eye creams products.

There are many types of organic products that can be used around the eyes. An organic eye gel is a good choice for oily skin because of its hydrating properties. An eye cream provides more moisture to the skin so it is a good choice for people with dry skin. An organic eye balm provides protection against environmental elements such as the sun, cold, and wind. Because the skin around the eyes is prone to damage, it is recommended that one use a natural organic eye cream on a daily basis.

Natural skin products such as eye balms, skin firming gels, and eye creams repair and firm the skin while softening and smoothing the lines around the eyes. They aid in decreasing skin irritation and promote skin healing. There are many types of eye creams available such as night care products which are thicker so they can nourish and revitalize the eye area. There are daily use products which are thinner so they blend into the skin and protect it all day.

When searching for an eye cream for sensitive skin, it is important to read the ingredient label. Some products claim to be organic, but they are not. Look for USDA certified organic label. Also, organic eye care products will not irritate, sting, or burn the skin. It is always a good idea to compare products so you know you are getting the best quality.

Sensitive eye creams should have all-natural ingredients and should be marked for sensitive eyes. Sensitive organic anti-aging eye cream is a great choice. When you find the right eye cream skin care product that meets your personal skin needs, you will soon enjoy the benefits of having healthier and more beautiful skin.
