Do you notice your skin feels dry, tight, or uncomfortable in the winter months? You are not the only one! Falling temperatures and humidity levels can really irritate the skin on your face. However, with a little more time and work, it is still possible to have soft skin - even in the winter. Selecting the right skin care products can help you deal with that dry winter skin. Here are a few simple steps to keep your skin glowing all year long.

To start, always look for for a non-foaming cleanser. Any product that foams is not suitable for dry skin. It means it has detergent in it, and detergent will only dry the skin out more. A milky or creamy cleanser takes off makeup effectively, but will not dry the skin out. It is different than a foaming cleanser, so it may take some getting used to. Apply a small amount of the product to dry skin. Massage it in, then rinse or tissue it off. Use the cleanser two times a day - in the morning and at night.

Second, after a thorough cleansing, apply a non-drying toner. Toners are an important step in your beauty routine. They eliminate any excess cleanser, and prepare your skin for treatment products and moisturizers. The toner balances your skin's pH level, making sure your skin can accept moisturization properly.

For daytime, use a hydrating cream. This is very important! Your moisturizer is the only barrier between your skin and the harsh elements. I like to select a cream that soaks in to my skin, so I don't have to worry about looking shiny throughout the day.

At night, use a separate night cream. It will be a little heavier than your day cream, but in the evening you don't have to worry about makeup running off or your face looking shiny. Plus, when you get up in the morning, your skin will feel fabulous!

Keeping your skin healthy in the winter does not have to be difficult. You just have to make sure you are using the appropriate products.

Even if the skin is the body's largest organ, it does not mean that people take care of it the right way. In fact, many simply ignore their skin's condition and keep using products that are not the best for it. There are many reasons that you need to take care of it and the following are just three great reasons to only use products from a natural skincare company:

1. One role the skin plays is the excrement of toxins that become built up in your body and its function is imperative for good health. The build up of toxins can lead to many different problems. If you are not using products manufactured by a natural skincare company, you could inadvertently block the pores. In other words, your skin would no longer be able to effectively remove the toxins.

2. Along with excretion, your skin will actually absorb toxins though the skin. All you have to do is consider the various medication that is now available in skin patches to see how easy the skin absorbs different chemicals. If you are not using top quality products on your skin, you are risking the absorption of chemicals and other agents that could be harmful to your body.

3. Furthermore, the skin is the first thing that protects the rest of the body. You have to be sure it is working at its optimum. If the skin is too oily, it can lead to a higher infection risk. On the other end, if it is too dry, it could be damaged rather quickly. Using organic skin products will help you to actually keep it in the best condition possible.

While the above three reasons are good reasons to choose a natural skincare company, there are many other things to consider. Truthfully, your skin is the first thing that others are going to notice about you. Your skin is actually a very good indicator of your health. Not only this, if you are not taking care of your skin properly, you could find yourself looking much older than you actual age.

Do you wear make up everyday like I do? Then, it's important that you have a good regime of cleansing, toning and moisturizing your face skin two times a day, or at least, every evening. Why is this important? Simple. It's to keep your face - the only one that you've got - young and healthy looking.

Make cleansing your face part of the same routine as brushing your teeth. Cleansing everyday not only helps to keep the wrinkles from showing up too early, but you'll end up with skin that people notice - soft and glowing. Who doesn't want that?

One of the most important face care cleansing tips I can give you is to understand the benefits of regular cleansing. Cleaning your facial skin at least every night, will remove the day's dirt, grime and makeup that accumulates on your skin and face throughout the day. Even touching your face with your hands puts dirt on it. The air we breathe and walk in every day is unfortunately, loaded with grime and toxins. This all builds up on your skin.

First thing to do is to pull your hair back off your face so that when you cleanse, you can get your facial skin cleaned all the way up to your hairline. Dirt really loves to dig in and stay put around your hairline. You might not see the dirt, but trust me, it's there.

Second, take off your eye makeup and mascara. You need to do this gently to avoid stretching the skin around your eyes. This is something I think we are all guilty of! I know I have been. The skin under and around your eyes is much more delicate than the rest of your facial skin. And stretching it or rubbing it too hard can cause damage (wrinkles).

You are going to get wrinkles regardless - so why make the process faster by not being careful when you cleanse around your eyes? Use a cotton ball or cotton pad soaked with your favorite eye makeup remover and gently wipe the mascara away.

Next, apply your favorite cleansing lotion over your whole face and gently massage it into your skin - especially the areas where you might have some blemishes or blackheads. Massaging helps to loosen the dirt and makeup, making removal from the pores much easier. It also helps to reduce any potential skin problems - like acne. Some cleansers also act as moisturizers.

Once you have finished massaging it into your face, just remove the excess with a washcloth or tissue.

Toner is a wonderful follow up after cleansing your face of all makeup. It's not mandatory, but I really like how toner makes my skin feel. And after I've applied the toner and let it dry, I then use a night cream that is just right for my skin. It's amazing how soft my skin feels when I wake up every morning!

Just remember, that even though you are in the habit of cleansing your face at night, you should also cleanse it again in the mornings. This makes it possible for you to start with a fresh, clean face for you to put on makeup. Plus, your skin will love you for it. You'll have fewer skin problems and a face that glows with health and radiance.

A lot of women were makeup everyday. In fact, most women do. And if that describes you, then hopefully you are already doing the face care cleansing tips I will outline in this article. A good rule of thumb is to cleanse your face once in the morning and once at night. And if that isn't possible, never go to bed without first washing your face. No matter how tired you might be!

So, the first thing to do, is pull your hair away from your face and clip it back or put it in a pony tail. And make sure when you start cleansing that you get all the way up to the hairline. Dirt and grim love to hang out there right around the hairline. It's their favorite hiding place and this is one of the causes of breaking out around the hairline.

Next thing to do is remove your mascara and other eye makeup. Here's the thing to keep in mind; the skin around and under your eyes is much more sensitive than the skin on the rest of your face. If you pull it or stretch it too much, it can cause premature aging and wrinkles. And who wants that?

Wrinkles are a part of life. We all get them eventually, but with a little more care and attention to your face - especially when removing eye makeup, you can have a younger looking face for longer. Simply, use a Q-tip or cotton ball dipped in the eye makeup remover of your choice to wipe off the day's mascara. Try not to go to bed with it still on your lashes. It tends to break them.

Now that you have covered your face with the cleansing cream or lotion, you can gently remove it with a soft washcloth, cotton ball or pad or tissue.

Now, if you like to use toner on your skin like I do, then this would be the time to apply it. Your face is freshly scrubbed and washed and ready for the benefits of a good skin toner product. Then, follow this up with an appropriate night cream or wrinkle treatment cream.

Just remember, that even though you are in the habit of cleansing your face at night, you should also cleanse it again in the mornings. This makes it possible for you to start with a fresh, clean face for you to put on makeup. Plus, your skin will love you for it. You'll have fewer skin problems and a face that glows with health and radiance.

by Peter Albertonach

Got sensitive skin? Theres some simple steps you can take to sensitive skin care.

Some people have sensitive skin, some dont. And there are some people with sensitive skin that neednt have sensitive skin.

All that annoying blotchiness, redness, inflammation and itchiness can often be controlled.

And that's not to say sensitive skin conditions can be controlled simply for everyone, you may have a specific condition that you should consult a dermatologist for. But why not try some simple stuff first and see how it works for you.

Sensitive skin care starts with an examination of your cosmetics and skin care products. Believe it or not, many big brand cosmetics and skin care products and anti aging products like creams, face masks and so on, can themselves CAUSE the problems that people with sensitive skin blame on their skin type, not on the products.

I write extensively about the nasty ingredients that are found in many big brand name cosmetics and skin care products on my website.

Things like parabens. If you haven't read about parabens yet they are a commonly found in many cosmetics and skin care products. Parabens are a range of chemicals that are cheap to use and work as a preservative. And there is quite some doubt about the safety of parabens. For example the cosmetics database lists 2 parabens (there's quite a few) as a hazard of at least 7 or 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. 7 or 8 is "high hazard".

And there's no reason why the presence of parabens would not of itself cause sensitive skin problems. It may or may not, but it's worth asking the question.

Many big brand cosmetics and skin care products include similar or the same ingredients, and you may well find that if you change your cosmetic brand to a natural non allergenic cosmetic brand many, or all, of your sensitive skin problems go away.

I have personal experience of this. A while ago my 8 year old daughter did her first ballet concert. They applied cosmetics to her face for the performance.

Within a few hours her entire face had broken out in a rash, and we decided right there not to use those cosmetics again.

So maybe it's time to have a look at those cosmetics on your shelves and those anti aging skin care products sitting there. If they're big brand name products they may have some nasty ingredients in them that might be causing your problems with sensitive skin.

Use low allergenic laundry detergents too. There are many detergents that also contain ingredients that may cause skin reactions in people with all sorts of skin types. In particular wash sheets and pillow cases with low or non allergenic detergents. Rinse well and avoid any detergents, as well as skin care products and cosmetics, with fragrances.

And even for people with oily or healthy skin fragrances can cause problems.

And if you have specific skin allergy problems a good allergy specialist can also find out if there are any other products that you could be using that are also causing problems.

You need to try out a range of natural cosmetics and natural skin care products that may well fix your sensitive skin problem for you, if not then you need to keep looking.

And we're very lucky that there are a couple of small niche skin care and cosmetics companies that make natural skin care products and natural cosmetics that are not only perfect for sensitive skin they are also excellent skin care products and cosmetics, and at very competitive products.

And the reason why the prices are competitive is because these companies don't spend huge amounts on TV advertising, in fact they don't advertise at all. So their costs are way lower. And they rely on their products selling themselves because they work so well.

And you'll find that those big brand name products are made down to a price rather than up to a standard.

So there's some sensitive skin tips. If they don't work consult an expert like a good dermatologist, but just doing these things may well clear up your sensitive skin.

I talk more about the best natural skin care products and cosmetics on my website.
