Natural Acne Treatments That Work

by Sara Makin

There are hundreds of natural acne remedies that may help eliminate those unsightly skin blemishes that so many people have. The biggest obstacle people face is discovering what the treatments are. There are billions of people all over the world that would do almost anything to become acne free. Most people feel like they have tried everything and often end up looking worse than they did before a treatment.

Anybody that wants to get rid of their acne should know that chemical based are ineffective. One of the best ways to treat acne is to get enough omega-3 and fish oil in their diet. When a breakout does happen, the natural defense system of the body will detect an infection which will cause more inflammation as it works to clear the infection. It is like a chain reaction.

Because inflammation is a natural occurrence, there is really nothing that can be done to turn of the body's defense system. The only thing that can help would be to decrease the amount of inflammation in the body so less irritation and breakouts occur. While fish oil is more potent than omega-3, obtaining the right amount of both nutrients will certainly do your fight against acne some justice. If the body lacks essential fatty acids, a number of things can go wrong. One thing, as mentioned earlier is increased inflammation.

Another important thing that should be considered in relation to acne is the likelihood of a hormone imbalance that has been caused by a lack of essential fatty acids. The essential fatty acids are known to distribute the amount of androgen evenly in the body that causes an overall balance of the body's hormones.

The best plan is to eat a diet that is rich in essential fatty acids. Some foods that should be eaten regularly include lean meats, whole grain foods, dark green leafy vegetables, mackerel, herring, salmon, walnuts, almonds, olive oil, flaxseed oil, and eggs. If you are eating these foods and still feel like you may be deficient, a supplement will make up for any shortages.

More natural acne solutions include steaming the face with hot water to open the pores, exfoliating with organic soap, and then rinsing with ice cold water to close the pores. You can find some of the best acne treatments right inside of your own home. There is no need to go out and spend money on a doctor who will only prescribe you a medication or chemical based topical solution that will further damage the skin.

Some of the dangers of using chemical based acne products are irritation, dryness, worsening acne, redness, and scaly skin. There are some acne medications that cause side effects like thinning hair, dry skin, depression, night blindness, mood swings, and dark yellow urine. There are others that cause redness of the eyes, loss of appetite, and yellowing of the hair, skin, and nails.

It should be clear that the best way to treat acne is with a natural acne treatment. If you are still not sure how to get rid of acne, the best advice is to try a few of the natural acne solutions talked about here to see for yourself what works.

Homemade Acne Treatments: Why Not Give Them A Try?

by Felix Schmieder

Acne tends to show up for most people around the same time, usually some time during high school. I was no exception and like everyone else, I tried all sorts of things to get it to go away. Nothing worked, but I wasn't to worried as my parents told me that as I got older, it would go away. They were wrong, unfortunately. My acne hung around and it also got worse.

Naturally, I've always tried out new products. Benzoyl Peroxide, salicylic acid, the proactiv system, none of them worked that well for me. I really started to research this whole acne problem to try and figure out a cure.

What I found was a lot of people were having great success with homemade acne treatments. Who would have though cheap items that you could find around the house would work so well? I was really psyched to try all of them out at the same time.

Thankfully, I reigned in my eagerness a bit and decided to try out the products in a more conventional manner. Some worked great for me and really helped clear up my skin. Others didn't work as well, but I wasn't bothered as much when something didn't work. Why? Because it costs only a few dollars compared to the tens or hundreds of dollars I had wasted before.

On top of not wasting my money anymore, I was also not using harsh chemicals on my face. My skin wasn't always clear, but it stopped being dull and actually looked really good. Ever since I noticed that, I've sworn off conventional medications. They never made me all that clear and they made my skin look like crap on top of it.

After reading this far you probably want some ideas to get you started. There are all sorts of recipes all over the internet. You could try using baking soda as an exfoliate, it helps smooth the skin by clearing out dead skin cells. You could also try egg whites to smooth your skin and use egg yolks to help heal any marks or blemishes you might have.

If these seem a bit off the way, you should try two quick and easy ones that many people have reported with great success. The first is using lemon juice as a cleaner/toner. Lemon juice works very well at clearing out pores. Just clean your face and apply it. Just make sure you mix some water with the lemon juice as a full strength mixture will sting quite a bit.

Another idea is to make an aspirin mask. Just mix 3 tablets with a little bit of water in a cup and apply the paste to your face. You want the mask to be thick so use as little water as possible. After you have applied it, let the mask sit for about 10-15 minutes and then rinse it off. Aspirin is a form of salicylic acid so it will dissolve dead skin cells and will clear out your pores. This is why it works so well
