Anti-Aging: Are You Getting a Non-Aging, Youthful Looking Sun Tan?

It's a known fact that nothing accelerates the look of aging faster than accumulated exposure to the sun. In short, the sun is an arch enemy of young, silky looking skin and whatever good skin care regimens you follow. And, how do you get that vibrant, youthful appearance together with a healthy looking tan without doing a little baking in the sun's oven?

Not to worry, since there is a plethora of sprays, lotions and creams that will allow you to display your lovely face, arms and legs with a glowing tan suggesting that you lead a life of liesure, spread lazily on the beaches at Tahiti.

Here are some tips that can help you remain completely sheltered from the sun's rays while at the same time presenting a youthful profile to the world that says you're really a dynamic outdoor enthusiast.

Get the Tan Look Without The Aging Effects

No doubt about it; we look younger with a healthy glow. Teeth and eyes look brighter, and all that gives a shot of needed confidence. You just need to look healthy and younger without the skin-damaging and aging effects of doing the wrong things, like staying in the sun or spending time in tanning booths. (Actually, they look more like caskets; hope that is not lost on you.)
It is quite normal for people who like to have a tan all year round to use tanning booths throughout the year. We should all now be aware of the dangers of too much sun (skin cancer), and a lot of tanning booths do not protect the skin from UVB rays.

There are now a number of alternatives are showing success in the market to counteract these health issues. Many people are now turning to artificial methods as they are generally much safer, especially the popular spray tanning system. The spray system appears to be more consistent than other artificial methods like creams or lotions where streak marks are not uncommon.

There are also manufacturers now that offer spray tans that you can apply yourself . Whichever method you decide upon there are some simple but basic steps needed to ensure the best effect. Initially you need to exfoliate which will eliminate all the dead skin cells from your body. What you don't want is for people to recognize your tan is a fake by noticing paler patches of skin where the dead skin cells have dropped from your body.

Be sure your skin is completely dry before you start.

Once this process is complete, it is advisable to prepare your skin further by applying a moisturizing cream (or lotion) to it which will make the agent easier to apply. A common problem especially in the early days of self tanning creams, although it doesn't happen quite as much now, was to forget to wear gloves when applying the tan which meant that the palms turned orange and let everyone know the tan was a fake.

Do not give away the fact that the tan is not real ; make sure those fingers, feet, elbows and knees are only given the lightest of coats as they have a habit of coming out darker. Even spray tanning can cause the odd problem if there is an excess and it starts to run so take a towel you no longer want with you to wipe it off.

To avoid any smears, marks or cracking, you will need to relax and remain still, while the tanning agent dries. Remember that these agents aren't prejudiced and will tan clothes just as well as they do your skin, so be careful when choosing what you wear afterwards. I have even had products that promised this wouldn't happen (it did).

Dark clothing is obviously the best choice as even if it does stain, it won't notice so readily and you won't have to throw the clothing out. Armed with this information it should be easier to have a fake tan that is safe and available all year round without anyone knowing what it is you are doing.
